A strong effort by Joey Brackemyer carried Morrison High School to a 2-1 win over Fulton High, on Monday, April 18, 2016. He struck out eight for the win. Morrison was 4-1 in the Conference.
Fulton had no answer for Brackemyer, who kept runners off the base paths. Fulton managed just one hit off of Brackemyer, who allowed no earned runs, walked four,and struck out eight during his seven innings of work.
A single by Lemki in the seventh inning cost Brackemyer his no-hit bid.
Ballard was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted six innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
The lead stayed with Morrison after the fifth, when the Mustangs scored two runs on an RBI single by Andy Bird, who plated Justin Rodriguez from second base. A throwing error by Fulton allowed Bird to score on the same play.
The lone run of the game for Fulton crossed the plate in the seventh inning on a groundout by Murphy.
