The Morrison Mustangs used the long ball to eliminate the Riverdale Rams in a make-up game  at Port Byron, IL, on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.  The final score was Morrison 15, Riverdale 4.

The second inning contribution more then sealed the win for the Mustangs.  Scoring started when Cody Southern singled in two runs and was joined on the bases, when Ben Tegeler doubled.  All runners scored on an Ethan Fischbach home run.  The rally continued with a single by Justin Jensen and a walk to Ryan VanZuiden that set the scene for a home run by Merik Kennedy.  This upped the score to 9-0 after two innings.  The Mustangs used the long ball again in the fourth inning when VanZuiden hit a solo homer and Nick Klimson cleared the full bases with a three-run double.  Morrison finished it in the fifth inning.  Southern slammed  a two-run double to subdue the Rams by a final score of 15-4.

The Rams collected three runs in the fifth inning, when the Mustangs supplied three walks, hit a batter, and allowed one of the team’s total of three hits to end the shortened game, due to the ten run rule.
