A tight game was decided in the eighth inning. Morrison Mustangs Varsity Baseball fell to Rock Falls High School 6-5, on Friday, March 18, 2016.
Justin Jensen racked up two RBI’s on three hits for Morrison. He homered in the third inning and singled in the fifth and seventh innings.
Morrison Mustangs converted a triple play in the sixth inning.
Moeller got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out five, walked one, and surrendered one hit.
Ryan VanZuiden couldn’t get it done on the rubber for Morrison, taking a loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
The bottom of the second saw Rock Falls take an early lead, 1-0. Matznick got things going for Rock Falls with a single. Mintun singled, plating Moeller.
Rock Falls pushed one run across in each of the third, sixth, and eighth. In the third, Rock Falls scored on an RBI single by Kilberg, scoring Velazquez.
In the fifth, Morrison Mustangs scored on an RBI single by Joey Brackemyer, bringing home Ben Tegeler. After posting one run in the fifth, Morrison again scored one in the seventh.
It didn’t take long for Rock Falls to answer, as it scored two runs of its own in the fifth. Rock Falls scored on an RBI single by Matznick and a single by Junis.
The game’s last lead went to Rock Falls, thanks to a eighth inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on two doubles.
