Morrison Mustangs Varsity outlasted Dixon on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, after five lead changes, squeaking out a 7-5 win. The Mustangs took the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the victory. A passed ball scored Andy Bird, to give Morrison the lead for good. Click here for the scoreboard.
Morrison Mustangs Varsity would not relinquish the lead, as Dixon was unable to weather a three-run, sixth inning deficit. Dixon scored one run in the sixth; unfortunately, Dixon wasn’t able to take back the lead.
Brock Smith recorded the win for Morrison Mustangs Varsity. He allowed two runs over five innings. Smith struck out one, walked two, and gave up three hits.
Lahman was charged with the loss. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
The bottom of the first saw Dixon take an early lead, 1-0. The Dixon attack began with a single from Mehrens. A single by Long then moved Mehrens from first to third. Jarret singled, plating Mehrens.
Dixon got one-run rallies in the fifth inning and the sixth. In the fifth, Dixon scored on an error, scoring Wolfe.
Morrison Mustangs Varsity didn’t give up the lead after the sixth inning. Additional runs came from two singles.
