Sensory therapy items were recently donated to Resthave Care & Rehabilitation, 408 Maple Avenue, in Morrison, IL, as part of the CGH Health Foundation Dementia Project. The special radio, Otamatone synthesizer, and hand bells are easy-to-use music therapy items. They will be a great way to engage all the residents, but especially those residents with different levels of dementia.
Shown at Resthave is Joan Hermes (left), CGH Foundation Executive Director. The radio she holds plays Big Band music (which can be changed.) It is heavy-duty and very easy to operate. The Otamatone synthesizer held by Resthave Activity Director Dawn Stuart is a fun, new way for residents to make music.
CGH Foundation is donating sensory therapy items to nursing facilities throughout the Sauk Valley, as part of the new dementia initiative. Contact Hermes at 815-625-0400, extension 5672, to learn more about the project.
