Eight Morrison High School students participated in the Augustana Honor Band Festival on Sunday, January 20, and Monday 21, 2014, on the Rock Island, IL, campus of Augustana College. The festival culminated with a concert by the Augustana College Symphonic Band and the two high school festival bands at 6:30 p.m., in Centennial Hall, Augustana College.
The two bands composed of students from 35 Illinois and Iowa high schools rehearsed under the direction of nationally-known Director Don Shupe, retired director of bands from Libertyville High School in Libertyville, IL, and Dr. James Lambrecht, Director of Bands at Augustana College. The Blue Band, composed almost entirely of Seniors, worked exclusively with Shupe. The Gold band, composed from Seniors, Juniors, and some underclassmen, worked with both Dr. Lambrecht and Shupe.
