Morrison Quiet Zone Passes Inspection

“We are in official compliance with [the Union Pacific] RR per inspector’s email below.  Hopefully the RR will get the memo from [the] inspector soon,” stated Gary Tresenriter, City of Morrison Director of Public Works, in an email to City Aministrator Barry Dykhuizen. 

An initial inspection found too many “Mountable Medians Channelization Devices” needed to be replaced or repaired at four railroad crossings.  The City Public Services Department completed installation on Friday, February 28, and Tresenriter notified Tammy Wagner, Regional Crossing Manager with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA.)  She notified Tresenriter with the following email on Thursday, March 6, 2014. 

“The FRA inspected the Morrison, IL, quiet zone and noted the channelization devices have been repaired, and the quiet zone is now compliant with the Train Horn Rule.  The [quiet zone] crossings that were inspected are listed below.

  • 175196F Sawyer Road Mountable Medians Channelization Devices
  • 175197M Jackson Street Mountable Medians Channelization Devices
  • 175198U Cherry Street
  • 175199B Genesee Street
  • 175200T Orange Street Mountable Medians Channelization Devices
  • 175201A Heaton Street Mountable Medians Channelization Devices.”
