Postmaster Bill Borum shared a summary of Christmas items that passed through his staff’s 54 hands at Morrison Post Office, 226 W. Main Street, Morrison, IL.
These holiday figures apply from Tuesday, December 1, through Thursday, December 24, 2015.
Kudos to the 28 United States Postal Service employees. Local clerks manually sorted 128 feet of flats and 72 feet of letters.
They scanned over 26,000 barcodes.
Carriers delivered 1650 feet of letters (the length of 5.5 football fields) and 206 feet of flats.
Employees delivered to-the-door over 26,000 packages–bringing at least that many smiles in the process.
The USPS held a children’s coloring contest until Saturday, December 19. More than 40 pieces of artwork decorated the lobby. Postal employees chose Nevaeh Strobbe‘s picture as the winner. She is shown with Postmaster Borum, who had the girl’s illustration framed and displayed in the lobby. Her prize was a $25 gift card.
In addition, letters written to Santa Claus were submitted to the Post Office, with a December 19 deadline. Santa hand-wrote a reply to a dozen children–because there was a last name and the child’s address included. One child could not be reached. Parents, please take note of those requirements for next Christmas.
