Morrison Pons Qualify for State

During the Illinois Drill Team Association (IDTA) dance competition on Saturday, January 17, 2015, Morrison High School Pons Squad was awarded the coveted Team Spirit Award while competing at Bureau Valley High School, Manlius, IL.  Other schools in attendance voted for this recognition for the MHS girls.  They earned first place in the Class 1A Kick Division, with a score high enough to qualify the Pons Squad for the upcoming IDTA State contest.

  • Senior:  Abigail Kull
  • Juniors:  Kelsey Becker, Lydia Bender, Sydney Beveroth, and Molly Mickley
  • Sophomore:  Allyssa Renner and Megan Szabo
  • Freshmen:  Lauren Bender, Avary Bielema, Dannica Connelly, Carissa Ferry, and Kelly Pannier.

Katie Jakubs, front row at left with Kull, is the Pons Head Coach; she was Assistant Coach last school year, 2013-2014.  Jakubs capitalizes on her experience as a member of the MHS Pons team during her Freshman and Junior years. 

Senior squad member Abigail Kull, shown below, performed a solo piece. She won the individual competition and qualified for IDTA State competition as well. Kull  also received the Rising Star award, with which IDTA judges honor dancers they believe bring exceptional showmanship to their performance.

The MHS Pons will perform at Hononegah High School in Rockton, IL, on Saturday, February 7, for one more Invitational.  Then they head to the IDTA State Championship, held at the Prairie State Convention Center in Springfield, IL, on Saturday, February 14.
