On Saturday, June 8, 2017, at approximately 1:06 p.m., Morrison Police, along with the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office and the Morrison Fire Department, responded to a house fire at 805 W. Park Street in Morrison, IL. As firefighters made entry to the house, a body was located inside the residence.
Peggy S. Schroeder, age 53 of Morrison, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Whiteside County Coroner’s Office.
As part of the investigation, on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at approximately 2:00 a.m., two female juveniles were taken into custody with formal charges pending.
The incident remains under investigation by the Morrison Police Department and the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the following agencies:
- Whiteside County Coroner’s Office
- Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshall
- Illinois State Police–Zone 2 Investigations
- Illinois State Police–Crime Scene Investigations Unit
- Sterling Police Department
- Prophetstown Police Department
- Bureau County Sheriff’s Office
- Morrison Fire Department.
