It is definitely time to think spring, Easter, and Lions roses. Roses will be delivered on Good Friday, March 30, 2018, and Saturday, March 31, just in time to enjoy for Easter. The cost is $15 per dozen. Colors vary from beautiful reds, yellows, pinks, and some “variegated” colors. Your desired color cannot be guaranteed, but, as always, we will do our best to serve you. Proceeds from this fundraiser support two scholarships, awarded to Morrison High School Seniors, and reimbursement to the CGH Eyeglasses for Kids Program, that furnishes glasses to Morrison, IL, area children.
An annual donation to Morrison Youth Baseball and Softball was approved. A report was given on plans for the Diabetes Awareness Fair, to be held at Resthave Home in the latter part of April. Vendors will be present, and a walk is being planned; the event is free and open to the public. Watch for the exact date to be announced in mid-March. Members also welcomed Zone Chairman Richard Delp at our meeting on Tuesday, February 20.
Bob Smith, below left, was in charge of the program for Tuesday, February 6th. He introduced Meridith Layne, Chamber of Commerce Coordinator, right. Presently, the Chamber has 140 members. The Chamber focuses on promoting Morrison and bringing new businesses to town. The Chamber is involved with many events such as “Because Nice Matters”, Citizen of the Year Award, scholarships, wine and beer tasting event, town Beautification Committee, Movies Under the Stars in the summer, helping the 4-H with the Halloween Parade, the Back to School Bash, and ribbon cuttings. The Chamber is also hoping to renew the Recycle Day program.
Keith Hamstra is in charge of the program for Tuesday, March 6. We invite anyone interested in Lions to attend any of our meetings, held on the first and third Tuesday of each month, at noon at Happy Joe’s, 109 W. Main Street, Morrison.
