2013 Holy Week services are listed below for 15 Morrison, IL, churches.
Bethesda Lutheran Church, 301 W. South Street, offers services at 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. with Holy Communion on Sunday, March 31. A full breakfast begins at 9:00, served by the Confirmation class and Men of Bethesda men’s group. Music will be part of both services.
Brethren in Christ Church, 209 E. Knox Street, will hold Maundy Thursday services at 6:30 p.m., with a meal provided. On Sunday, March 31, the short Sonrise service is at 8:30 a.m., followed by breakfast and the 10:00 service. The Blue Brethren, a seven-piece group, will end the service with a Christian blues song.
Christian Reformed Church, 300 W. South Street, will hold Maundy Thursday services at 7:00 p.m. The Sunday, March 31, service is at 9:30.
Crossroads Community Church will have two services at the Morrison Campus, 125 W. Main Street, on Sunday, March 31. At 7:00 a.m. will be a Family Sunrise Service with Water Baptisms. No Kidzlink Children’s Ministry will be held during this service. A Breakfast Buffet will be served between services until 9:50 a.m. At 10:00 a.m. is the Easter Service with Water Baptisms and Kidzlink Children’s Ministry. Ebenezer Reformed Church, 309 E. Park Street, will hold March 28, Maundy Thursday services at 7:00 p.m. Easter Sunday, March 31, begins with breakfast from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., followed by the service at 9:30.
Emmanuel Reformed Church, 202 E. Morris Street, will hold March 28, Maundy Thursday services at 7:00 p.m. On Easter Sunday, March 31, worship service is at 9:00 a.m., and includes two anthems sung by the choir; coffee hour follows.
First Baptist Church, 406 Maple Avenue, will hold March 28, Maundy Thursday services at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, March 31, Sunday School meets at 9:00, and Easter services are at 10:00 a.m.
First Presbyterian Church of Morrison, 100 E. Lincolnway, will hold March 28, Maundy Thursday services from 5:00 to 6:30, with a a worship service at 7:00 p.m. There is a 7:00 p.m. March 29, Good Friday, service. On Sunday, March 31, the service is at 10:15 a.m., followed by a coffee hour. During the Sunday service children of all ages may participate in the Easter egg hunt.
Morrison Christian Church, 201 S. Genesee Street, begins Easter Sunday, March 31, with an 8:00 a.m. service followed by breakfast pizza. During the 9:15 service, children will participate in the Resurrection Egg Hunt to illustrate the Easter story. Fellowship time will follow.
Morrison United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway, will hold March 28, Maundy Thursday services and Holy Communion beginning at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, March 30, the regular 5:30 p.m. Upward Call service will be an Easter Vigil. On Sunday, March 31, Easter services are at 8:00 and 10:15 a.m., with fellowship after each service.
Open Bible Fellowship, 11429 Ward Road, will show the film “The Passion of Christ” on Friday, March 29, beginnig at 7:00 p.m. It ia best-suited for older children. Easter Sunday, March 31, service is at 10:00 a.m.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 13320 Garden Plain Road, will hold March 28, Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m. and Good Friday, March 29, service at 12:15 p.m. Holy Saturday service, March 30, begins at 7:30 p.m. The Easter Sunday, March 31, worship service is at 8:00 a.m.
St. Peter Evangelical Luthran Church LCMS, 601 N. Jackson Street, will hold March 28, Maundy Thursday services at 7:00 p.m. and a 7:00 p.m., March 29, Good Friday service. Based on Acts 5:42, the Easter Vigil on Saturday, March 30, begins at 5:42 p.m. On Sunday, March 31, the early service is at 7:00 a.m., followed by breakfast from 8:00 to 9:15; there is also a 9:30 service. There will be no Sunday School, but children will play insturments to accompany the hymns.
Spring Valley Reformed Church, 10960 Spring Valley Road, offers one service at 9:30 a.m., with Sunday School following the message, on Sunday, March 31.
St. Anne’s Church, 401 N. Cherry Street, will hold March 28, Maundy Thursday service at 6:20 p.m. and a noon, March 29, Good Friday, service. The Great Vigil First Mass is at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, March 30. On Sunday, March 31, Low Mass is at 7:00 a.m., and High Mass begins at 10:00.
