“I’m really excited about this position!” stated Aubrey Fisher, Morrison, IL, who has been hired as the Lead Head Start Teacher in Morrison for the 2014-1015 school year. Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Open Bible Fellowship Church, 11429 Ward Road, Morrison. The program follows the Morrison school calendar for snow days and most holidays.
Fisher can accept 17 students, ages three to five. Criteria for acceptance include income level and special needs. “I welcome [parents] out anytime to take a look around the classroom. We still have some openings for children, and class begins on Wednesday[, September 3, 2014].”
Because enrollment is ongoing, children can begin attending throughout the year.
There is an aide (Miss Stella), a nutritionist (Heather), and a bus driver (Jeannie) to offer support services. Bus transportation is free of charge. Some of the children will attend the afternoon Morrison Early Learning Program (MELP) at Northside School, 520 N. Genesee Street, Morrison. Pupils receive a snack and lunch each day.
“Head Start is a great program!” stated Fisher. “I have had a long journey [to become a teacher]. I have worked really hard for the last four years for this. I’m really excited!”
