Morrison Community Preschool is an independent, non-profit, preschool program for children three years and older, licensed through Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS.) Morrison Community Preschool is a community partner of the United Way of Whiteside County.
We offer a three-year-old class, which meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 8:15 to 10:30 a.m., and a class for children four-years-old and above, which meets Monday-through-Friday, from 12:30 2:45 p.m. Each class is limited to 20 students. Both classes pay a tuition fee once monthly ($95 for morning and $150 for afternoon.)
As a private program, we are able to unique benefits. If your child is new to the world of school, a three-day program can be just the right amount of time, to introduce your child to the world of education. In the four-to-five-year-old program, we offer a five-day program, to help prepare your child for Kindergarten.
We have low class sizes and a high teacher-to-student ratio, so your child is able to receive the attention he/she needs to flourish.
Morrison Community Preschool is able to admit three-year-olds as soon as they turn three (space permitting.) So, if you have a “late starter,” they are welcome to enter our program during the school year. We are also able to keep students an extra year (five- and six-year-olds), if you feel you would like more school exposure before your child begins Kindergarten.
Curriculum Info:
At Morrison Community Preschool, we believe in a balanced and age-appropriate curriculum. We focus on both academic and social growth, viewing each as equally important. All activities are geared towards engaging our young learners.
We
- teach early childhood skills through exploring subjects students are interested in
- introduce and build skills through active and hands-on activities
- encourage students to take part in the classroom community
- engage in student-selected, purposeful play, that allows students to explore and make discoveries.
All Morrison Community Preschool curriculum follows the Illinois Early Learning Standards, which prepare students for Kindergarten and beyond.
Scholarship:
It is our goal to provide a quality education to as many students as possible. Beginning the 2018-2019 school year, MCP will offer a scholarship opportunity of up to 50% of tuition paid for qualifying students, depending on funds available.
Families must complete a scholarship application and abide by scholarship guidelines.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need and academic risk factors. The MCP Scholarship is geared towards four- and five-year-old students, but may be awarded to three-year-old students in certain circumstances.
