Morrison Christmas Services

Celebrate the 2013 Christmas season at any of the following 15 Morrison, IL, churches.

Nativity

*Bethesda Lutheran Church, 301 W. South Street, will hold two candlelit services on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, at 5:00 and 11:00 p.m.  The later service offers songs by the choir.

*Brethren in Christ Church, 209 E. Knox Street, will celebrate Christmas Eve services from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., with goodies served afterward.  There will be candle lighting, carols, and special music during the service on Tuesday, December 24.

*Christian Reformed Church, 300 W. South Street, will hold a Christmas service at 9:00 a.m., on Sunday, December 22.  Children will read passages that describe the religious significance of holiday items–white lights, star, angels, bells, candy canes, etc.–while they decorate the Christmas tree.

*Crossroads Community Church will have Christmas Eve service at 4:00 p.m. at Morrison Institute of Technology, 701 Portland Avenue (IL Route 78), on Tuesday, December 24. 

*Ebenezer Reformed Church, 309 E. Park Street, will hold its Christmas Eve candlelit service at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 24.  The choir will perform.

*Emmanuel Reformed Church, 202 E. Morris Street, will hold a December 24, Christmas Eve service. The candlelit worship is at 6:00 p.m. and includes two anthems sung by the Sanctuary Choir, familiar carols, and a meaningful message by Rich Criss.

*First Baptist Church, 406 Maple Avenue, will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight Communion service at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24. 

*First Presbyterian Church of Morrison, 100 E. Lincolnway, will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight service from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24.

*Morrison Christian Church, 201 S. Genesee Street, will not hold services on Christmas Eve of Christmas Day.  The congregation will attend services at several local churches.

*Morrison United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway, will hold two services on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24.  Both conclude with the singing of Christmas carols and candle lighting while singing “Silent Night.”  The 4:00 p.m. service includes a Children’s Message.  The 7:00 service offers lots of music and songs by the choir.

*Open Bible Fellowship, 11429 Ward Road, will hold no services on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.  The regular worship service is Sunday, December 22, at 10:00 a.m.

*St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 13320 Garden Plain Road, will hold a Vigil Mass and Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, at 5:30 p.m. and 12:00 midnight, respectively.  Children will be involved in the Vigil Mass.  Mass also will be held at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, Christmas Day.

*St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church LCMS, 601 N. Jackson Street, will hold its Christmas Eve candlelit service at 7:00 p.m.  On Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, the service is at 9:30 a.m.

*Spring Valley Reformed Church, 10960 Spring Valley Road, offers Christmas Eve service at 6:00 p.m., including Holy Communion, retelling the Christmas story, carols, and candle lighting on Tuesday, December 24.

*St. Anne’s Church, 401 N. Cherry Street, will hold the Evensong service on Christmas Eve, December 24, at 5:00 p.m.  During this children’s service, the Baby Jesus will be blessed and layed in the manger.  At the 10:30 Mass that evening, there will be Holy Communion and seasonal songs. Christmas Day Mass will begin at 9:00 a.m.  On New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2014, Mass also will begin at 9:00 a.m.
