The Morrison, IL, Fillies traveled to the Quad Cites to take on the Moline, IL, Maroons from the Big 6 Conference, on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. The local girls suffered a loss after giving up a three-run homer in the first inning.
Starter Brooke Stralow allowed singles to the Maroon’s first two batters and struck out the next two but couldn’t get out of the inning as Abbie Youdts sent a 1 and 1 pitch over the centerfield fence to take a 3-0 lead. Moline scored two runs in the fifth inning when Youdts again plated one run with a double and then scored herself when Medinger singled to move the score to 5-3. Two more runs were added in the seventh inning with a single, a triple, and a sacrifice fly and ended the Maroon scoring to earn the win 7-3.
Morrison entered the scoring in the third inning when Emma Sitzmore singled in Emma Melton, who had singled and advanced by Jaeden Workman‘s single. Two more runs were added in the fifth inning, after Melton got on via an error, and Lauren Vos advanced her on a bunt single ahead of a Stralow double.
