Morrison Music Theater Association (MMTA) will sponsor a special benefit dinner theatre performance of “Cruise into Murder.” The original drama will be presented by the performing group “It’s a Mystery” on Friday, June 9, 2017, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The scene of the crime is the auditorium at Morrison Institute of Technology, 701 Portland Avenue, Morrison, IL. This production will include cameo appearances by local MMTA members and audience participation.
The $35 ticket price includes a catered, buffet dinner. The menu offers several options: roast beef, chicken, mashed potatoes, rice, green beans, a dessert tray, iced tea, lemonade, and coffee. The dining becomes the setting for the interactive plot.
As a comparison, Circa ’21 Dinner Theatre, about 45 miles away, offers an evening buffet and performance for $51.73. Choose soup or salad, five entrees, coffee or tea.
“Tackle the case with your fellow guests, by questioning suspects between meal courses, or sit back and laugh as our outrageous characters sell their alibis. You won’t need a detective to discover that you’ve had a great night of laughs! You’ll die laughing! Our actors mingle as guests arrive. Shortly after,
- a victim is discovered!
- an investigator of dubious qualifications enters!
- our off-kilter suspects are introduced!”
There will be raffles, door prizes, and a blind auction for two large prizes. One is a seven-night stay in Door County, WI, where you can run or walk, bike or hike. It is an ideal destination for bikers, boaters, and beach fans.
After expenses, proceeds will fund MMTA future productions. We want the group to continue to present quality theatrical productions to the Whiteside County area.
Seating is extremely limited and a sell-out is expected, so it is strongly suggested that tickets be purchased in advance. General admission tickets are available at Fitzgerald Pharmacy, 124 E. Main Street, Morrison, or from any Morrison Music Theatre Association Board member. Tickets not purchased in advance will be available at the door.
