Wild Rose Casino & Resort announces MMA Extreme Challenge 232 to perform in the Oakwood Grand Ballroom on Saturday, May 30, 2015. Extreme Challenge 232 will start at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30. General admission tickets are $30 in advance or $35 on the day of the event; table seats are $40; ringside seats are $50. This show is the first to be hosted by the Wild Rose Casino and is only open to fans 18 years old and over.
There will be a lot of “firsts” featured, when the legendary Extreme Challenge brings its mixed martial arts event to the Wild Rose Casino, 777 Wild Rose Drive, Clinton, IA.
Extreme Challenge 232 is scheduled for May 30 featuring a pair of Clinton fighters battling for separate championships. Todd Monaghan, shown left, is a veteran of The Ultimate Fighter TV series. He will fight Brad Scholten of Sioux City, IA, for the Iowa State heavyweight title. Mark Stoddard, winner of five of his last six bouts, will take on Dominic O’Grady of Detroit, WI, for the Extreme Challenge welterweight title.
The Monaghan-Scholten winner will be the first-ever Iowa MMA Champion. State titles were started earlier this year, but this will be the first time a title fight has been held. It is the first time Monaghan, who has an 8-2 record, has fought in Clinton since being on the TV show.
Stoddard will be fighting for his first title, but not fighting his first tough opponent. The Clinton fighter has fought five UFC veterans in building his 10-7 record. After winning 5-of-6 recent fights, he expects a win over O’Grady will be enough for a call-up from a bigger organization. O’Grady is a former King of the Cage champion. He built his 16-8 record while fighting in Japan and the Bellator event.
Other area fighters include Jeremy Castro, Dave Severe, Derek Stoddard, Jordan Ruskell, and Adam Rice of Clinton. Clint Anderson, Jason Bowling, Raufeon Stots, and Josh Smith represent the Quad Cities.
The Extreme Challenge started in 1996. It is currently the second-longest running MMA event in the Nation, behind the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The event has produced eight UFC champions.
Tickets are on sale now. They are available for purchase through the Iowa Store Gift Shop at Wild Rose Casino & Resort in Clinton and by calling 800-457-9975. Local fighters will also be selling tickets to the event.
