The Milledgeville, IL, Missiles flew into Morrison, IL, on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, and were grounded by a 12-hit attack. The Mustangs sent them home with a 15-4 defeat.
Behind the six hit pitching of Ethan Fischbach, the Mustangs collected five runs in the first inning. MIlledgeville’s Schmidt hit Ben Tegeler with a pitch and walked Fischbach, before Justin Jensen plated both runners with his triple to right centerfield. Ryan VanZuiden and Andy Bird earned RBI’s with singles before the five-run inning ended.
The Morrison offense continued in the second inning, where the Mustangs scored six runs on five hits and two Milledgeville errors. The final four runs were recorded in the fourth inning on doubles by Justin Rodriquez and Merik Kennedy and a triple by Tegeler, to cap off the contest due to the ten run rule at 15-4.
