Timber Lake Playhouse will present the much-acclaimed and Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, “”Million Dollar Quartet”,” Friday, September 8, 2017, through Sunday, September 17, in Mount Carroll, IL. The production, directed by Courtney Crouse, will play a total of eight performances over two weekends.
“Million Dollar Quartet” is the true-life story of one night at Sun Records in Memphis, 1956, when Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis were brought together to make a recording that changed the history of rock’ n’ roll. The gathering was called “Million Dollar Quartet” by newspapers at the time; the musical based on the event became an international best-seller.
Narrated by record producer Sam Phillips, the 90-minute “Million Dollar Quartet” includes classic hits like “Great Balls of Fire,” “Walk the Line,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” and more. Critics have called the show “a buoyant new jukebox musical” and a “dazzling, raucous spectacle.” Since its 2008 debut, “Million Dollar Quartet” has become the longest running musical in Chicago’s History.
Starring in the Timber Lake production will be TLP favorite Grant Brown as Sam Phillips; Patrick Martin (TLP’s “Pump Boys & Dinettes”) as Carl Perkins; TLP newcomers Tyler Breeding as Elvis Presley; Erick Baldemar as Johnny Cash; “Million Dollar Quartet” alum, Ethan Ray Parker, as Jerry Lee Lewis. Parker also music directs.
The cast is rounded out by Chicago’’s Courtney Jones as Dianne, and Charlie Malave as bass-player, Brother Jay Perkins. TLP favorite Kieran McCabe is Fluke, the drummer.
“Million Dollar Quartet” will perform Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays, at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. over two weekends only.
