Mill Flour Bake-Off 2016

Bake OffThe Education Committee of Fulton’s Windmill Area will host its fourth annual baking competition. The bake-off will be held during Fulton’s Fall Festival, Friday, September 16, 2016.  All entries will be sold at the Windmill Cultural Center, 111 10th Avenue, Fulton, IL, on Saturday, September 17.  Winners will be announced on Saturday. 

This year’s competition will feature both adult and children entries.

  • The entry fee for children is $5.  Each child will receive 2.5 cups of fine wheat flour and a basic cookie recipe.  The basic ingredients must be used in the final product plus any additional ingredients the child wishes.
  • The entry fee for adults is $10.  Each adult will receive a bag of windmill flour of their choice.

There will be eight entry categories awarded first and second prizes.  The categories are the eight different types of flour ground at de Immigrant Windmill.  They are wheat:  fine, cracked, or unsifted; rye:  fine, unsifted, or cracked; buckwheat; corn.

Entry forms may be picked up at the Windmill Cultural Center in Fulton during regular hours, through Wednesday, September 14.
