Millie was born September 21, 1919, in Lyndon, IL, to Clark A. and Alma M. (Wagenecht) Rosenow. She was educated in the Lyndon Grade School and was a graduate of Lyndon High School. She was a graduate of Northern Illinois State Teacher’s College in DeKalb, IL, and attended Marycrest College in Davenport, IA. Millie married Marvin Van Oosten on May 19, 1944, in Marietta, OK. He died March 16, 2002. Millie was employed as an elementary and middle school teacher in the Garden Plain and Albany, IL, grade schools for 25 years. She was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Morrison, the church’s Ladies Aid Society, and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She served as Sunday School and Bible School teacher. Millie was a member of the Morrison Community Hospital Auxiliary and was a Lobby Shop volunteer. She was a member and Past President of the Morrison American Legion Auxiliary and active as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. Millie was a life member of the Illinois and Whiteside County Retired Teacher’s Association. She enjoyed walking, reading, and traveling.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jo (Don) Zibble of Naperville, IL; two sons, Bill (Melody) Van Oosten of Pontiac, IL and Dan (Nancy) Van Oosten of Hendersonville, NC; nine grandchildren, Erin (Matt) Burger, Kristen Zibble, Laura Zibble, Andrew Van Oosten, Paul Van Oosten, Tracey (John) Lencioni, Brian (Melcah) Van Oosten, Douglas Van Oosten, and Lisa Tomlinson; five great-grandchildren, Cole, Henry and Grayson Burger; Zackery Wilson; and Deborah Van Oosten.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; one son, Larry Ray in infancy; two sisters, Hazel Loftus and Marjorie Onken; one brother, Raymond Rosenow.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Morrison, IL

CO-OFFICIATING:  Rev. Mark Winkelman, Senior Pastor, and Rev. Mike Winkelman, Associate Pastor, St. Peter Lutheran Church, Morrison, IL

VISITATION:  Noon until time of service Thursday, February 12, 2015, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Morrison, IL

The Morrison Chapel Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

INTERMENT:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
