On Monday, June 25, 2018, Sergeant Kristopher Schmidt, Republican candidate for Whiteside County Sheriff, announced political backing from one of his four, previous Republican competitors.
Schmidt stated, “In life, it’s a matter of putting aside past differences for a common good. For us, it’s no different…. Mike Lewis joins us, showing support for our positive adventure towards the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Election November 6. We welcome Mike and all of his supporters to our team with open arms!”
Results of the Tuesday, March 20, 2018, General Primary Election showed 5511 Republican votes were cast. Schmidt received 2317 (43%) and Lewis received 1773 (32.17%) of the total.
