MHS to Present “Wizard of Oz”

DandtrioHere is an entertaining idea to honor Mom or Grandma, whild bringing pleasure to the entire family.  Buy her a ticket to attend Morrison High School ‘s presentation of “The Wizard of Oz.”  The drama will be held the weekend of Friday, May 9, through Sunday, May 11, 2014, in the MHS auditorium, 643 Genesee Avenue, Morrison, IL. 

This delightful classic will be produced on Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 11, at 2:00 p.m.  Choose a performance to enjoy with the youngsters and the young-at-heart.

The stage version is very similar to the iconic movie musical.  Morgan McCulloh will play the role of Dorothy, which was made famous by Judy Garland.  Other leading characters include Kurtis Klimson as the Scarecrow; Kyle McCoy as the Tin Man; Robb Stone as the Cowardly Lion; Isabel Vander Bleek as the Wicked Witch; Allison Houldson as Glinda, the Good Witch.  Also featured are Eric Sipes as the Wizard; Kelsey Middleton as Auntie Em; Zach Osborn as Uncle Henry; Joy Sipes as the Munchkin Mayor; Andrew Rinker as the Gatekeeper.

Chorus members and dancers include Kelsey Becker, Sydney Beveroth, Jacob Brown, Ashley Hagerman, Holly Johnson, Nicholas Kaufman, Abbie Kull, Rachel Magana, Kaleb McCoy, Molly Mickley, Derek Montague, Erin Nelson, Cassie Osborn, Paige Shirk, Chloe Stingley, John Taylor, Tessa Vander Bleek, Emily Wallander, and Allie Wiersema.

Directing the production is MHS vocal music teacher Megan Zahora.  Other production staff include Bob Stone, Assistant and Technical Director; Tyler Smith, Choreographer; David Bean, Pit Band Conductor.

Tickets are $5 for all ages and may be purchased in advance at Fitzgerald Pharmacy, 124 E. Main Street, in Morrison.  They also will be available at the door.
