Those who love biography, local history, and/or drama will enjoy the combination of all three, melded into first-person presentations, at Morrison’s Heritage Museum, 202 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL. On Sunday, April 24, 2016, Morrison Historical Society hosts its Annual Open House. Doors open at 1:00 p.m., with the program at 1:30 p.m.
Morrison Music Theatre Association (MMTA) has selected several men and women to portray. All are found within 119 pages of a book produced in 2007, by the Board of Directors at that time and members of Morrison Historical Society: People To Be Remembered, Stories of Notable People Who Lived in Morrison, IL. Showcased are biographies of 28 individuals from 25 families. Some may be your ancestors, co-workers, or old friends.
- Six were teachers; five were farmers.
- The majority displayed passion for their career or daily life.
- Some were inventive and business-oriented; others were civic minded.
- A few offer an example of how life tests us.
One of the ten women lived nearly 105 years, and through MMTA’s interpretation, you will attend her 100th birthday party. One battled tuberculosis “for six or seven years, all the years of [her] marriage.” Another operated a Main Street ladies’ shop for 45 years, then co-founded Climco Company. A Vermont native, who moved to Union Grove Township in 1863, practiced midwifery and treated many with most-unusual techniques and home remedies!
Let MMTA introduce you to memorable people on Sunday, April 24.
Morrison’s Heritage Museum is accessible and welcomes all ages. Refreshments will be served.
People To Be Remembered is available for purchase.
