Thecity1.com, Morrison Online, will host a “Meet the Mayoral Candidates” event on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., at Morrison High School, 643 Genesee Avenue, Morrison, IL. The event will be moderated by Assistant Editor Jerry Lindsey and Stephanie Vavra, Owner and Publisher of thecity1.com.
Board members of Morrison Chamber of Commerce will support the event.
Alderman Vernon Tervelt and Acting City Clerk Scott Vandermyde and the hosts will use microphones. This event will be live-streamed via Zoom and then uploaded to the internet as a video.
Facemasks are required. Doors open at 6:00, allowing the Chamber to screen guests for temperatures and direct attendees to socially-distanced seating. The auditorium holds 724 seats, so everyone can spread out. Pairs/Family members may sit side-by-side.
The public is urged to suggest questions for the panel. Final decisions on questions rest with thecity1.com staff. Kindly submit queries in writing by Monday, March 22. Each panelist will
- make a 2-minute Opening statement
- respond to questions from the moderator for 2 minutes
- offer a 1-minute Closing statement.
For fairness, the same question will be posed to each candidate. If time allows, there will be questions taken from the floor. Hold applause until both men have given their closing remarks.
