Sara Vanderkleed, nee Vankooten, is a Morrisonian who now lives in Lafayette, IN. She is an artist (“I create.”) and instructor (“I help you create.”) who produces fine art paintings and mixed media collages. Her women’s retreats, wine and canvas classes, creativity boot camps, and private lessons are means to inspire creativity in others.
The public is invited to meet Vanderkleed during two programs at The Loft on Main, 112 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL.
On Sunday, March 8, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Vanderkleed will share her journey as an artist. She will discuss what inspires her and the value of art. Her lecture will include an on-the-spot painting demonstration. Patron Donors of The Loft on Main receive a 10% discount on Vanderkleed purchases during this evening. Friends and former classmates are welcome. There is no cost to enjoy this meet-and-greet event.
On Monday, March 9, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Vanderkleed will offer a meditative, mixed media, collage class at the gallery, for those 16 and older. “The theme is ‘A Rhythm of Rest.’ We will play with paper torn from books and magazines along with paint, glues, and more. You will leave with a mixed media collage-a meaningful visual of the time you set apart for yourself. No artistic skill is required, just curiosity and a willingness to try something new,” she stated.
A fee of $40 includes materials and refreshments.
