Friends of Odell Public Library welcome the public to view a comedy movie, “Dave,” based on a modern prince-and-the-pauper switcheroo, on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. It will be shown in the Program Room at 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL.
Dave is a look-alike for the President of the United States and is used as his stand-in. The film stars Kevin Kline, Sigourney Weaver as his wife, Ben Kingsley as Vice President, and Frank Langella as the evil Chief of Staff.
The film portrays the old plot–about taking an ordinary person and suddenly thrusting him into a position of power–but with a new twist. Dave is an undistinguished guy who happens to look just like the President. The Secret Service recruits Dave to impersonate the President throwing the ball at games; kissing babies; shaking hands. When the President has a stroke, Dave is hired on a permanent basis.
The Chief of Staff decides to use Dave for his personal power against the Vice President. Mayhem ensues. Kline, who plays a dual role as Dave and the President, is witty, energetic, and lively. Sigourney Weaver is funny in her frosty role, and Frank Langella adds the wicked intrigue.
However, Dave enjoys the role of President, but he dimly recognizes that something is not right.
Come and enjoy an afternoon at the movies with us. Popcorn and a drink are on the house.
