“Meet and Greet” for Artist Paul Schmidt

Posted by

Paul Schmidt is one of the international artists who sell their creations at The Loft on Main, 112 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL.  A 1970 graduate of Morrison High School, Schmidt lives in Costa Rica.  So when he comes home to visit, it is a special occasion.  To capitalize on his availability, The Loft on Main arranged a “Meet the Artist” event on Thursday, April 25, 2019, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

The occasion was important to a great many of his family, friends, and classmates.  Schmidt, at left, enjoyed reconnecting with men he has known for nearly 50 years.  His smile confirms that.

Schmidt brought a framed original illustration of the former railroad depot.  “I have sold prints [of this] before,” he noted.  Another, larger, framed print was brought to demonstrate his skill.  Dominated by two farmsteads and soft tones, this piece included seven additional, overlapping drawings.  Again, his details are compelling.

Well past the one hour reception, there was a steady stream of visitors.  The mood was extra convivial, because these visitors knew each other.  Several experienced the delights of The Loft on Main for the first time.

Additionally, the occasion was an opportunity for family to gather in support.  Shown left-to-right are Paul’s mother’s cousin, Bill Zickau of Clinton, IA; Paul’s nephew Kris Schmidt; sister Ann Britt; mother Leona; the artist; sister Jean Zinnen.

A. Boyd Guest Room” upstairs.

The Loft on Main is available for rent.  Consider this attractive space for birthdays, receptions, anniversaries, graduations, showers, or meetings.  Call 815-772-4005 and speak with Sharon Boyles.
