The Northern Illinois Mayors Association met Thursday, May 19, 2022, in Lanark, IL, at the Heritage Center, hosted by Lanark Mayor Ken Viglietta. Although it was a smaller turnout than at some meetings, the group of seven was enthusiastic about their communities. Each Mayor and Village President reported on growth in their communities and told about coming community events.
The speaker for the evening was to have been Carroll County Sheriff Ryan Kloepping, however, he was called to an event. Eastland Student Resource Officer and Sheriff’s Deputy Justin DeSpain offered a detailed report, of how he interacts with students in the Eastland Elementary and Junior-Senior High School. Those in attendance had many questions for him.
