May 31, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision with injuries, at the intersection of Perkins Road and Mill Road, rural Prophetstown, IL. A northbound Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Cheryl A. Flam, age 68 of Prophetstown, failed to yield to the right of way at the stop intersection and proceeded northbound into the intersection. A westbound Chevrolet Colorado driven by Thomas J. Henrekin, age 60, and passenger Hannah J. Henrekin, age 22, both of Tampico, IL, was unable to avoid a collision and impacted the passenger’s side of the Grand Caravan. The driver of the Dodge Caravan was ejected from the vehicle because of no seat belt use. All parties were transported to CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL. The driver of the Grand Caravan was later airlifted to a trauma center in Rockford, IL. The investigation is on-going. Deputies were assisted by Prophetstown Fire/EMS, R&K Towing, Randy’s Towing, and ComEd.
