Sunday, May 13, 2018, is the Let’s Feed Our Children’s annual Peanut Butter and Jelly Sunday. This United Way of Whiteside County initiative encourages area churches to support the program, by donating smooth peanut butter and grape jelly. These donations help keep the cost of summer lunches to about $0.60 per bag.
In 2017, 553 volunteers across Whiteside County served 31,745 free lunches in the following Cities
- Albany
- Erie/Lyndon
- Fulton
- Morrison
- Prophetstown
- Rock Falls
- Sterling
- Tampico.
New to the program this year are Chadwick, and Milledgeville, IL.
The Let’s Feed Our Children program began in 2001 and continues to be a well-run, well-supported program. Donations of peanut butter and jelly may be dropped off at your church or at Sauk Valley Foodbank, 1801 Plant Road, Sterling, IL.
