Three pianos + one massive organ + one awesome trumpet + one 50-voice choir + one incredible audience singing favorite hymns = one night you will not want to miss! This is the promise from Emmanuel Reformed Church, 202 E. Morris Street, Morrison, IL. The congregation invites all to its Old Fashioned Sunday Night Singspiration, on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at 7:00 p.m.
What is a Singspiration? Looking back to the 1950’s, churches in a community would gather after their Sunday night services at a host church. They would sing hymns and enjoy special music. These gatherings were known to attract large crowds that would pack churches, to make great music together.
In reliving that tradition, Emmanuel’s mighty four-manual, 79-stop Allen organ and organist Rich Criss will be joined by three pianos. Pianists will be Julia Deter, Karen Mouw, and Arlene Schaver. In addition, Mike McCoy will play trumpet as all gathered sing many old familiar hymns.
Included will be such classics as “Praise Him, Praise Him,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Moment by Moment,” “To God be the Glory.” Between hymns, a choir of Emmanuel’s Sanctuary Choir and Voices of Praise will sing two special numbers.
Criss and McCoy will present a trumpet and piano piece. Other special musical numbers will take place, as well.
A fellowship hour will be held following the service. All are invited to have coffee and light refreshments.
