Mary A. Tichler, 77, of Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison, IL, died Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Resthave, surrounded by her family.
Mary was born August 3, 1946, in Freeport, IL, to Paul and Shirley (Halstead) Noeske. She was a 1964 graduate of Freeport High School and continued her education with some Secretarial and Financial College courses. On November 4, 1966, she married Marvin E. Tichler at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. For a time, Mary worked in the kitchen at Northside Grade School in Morrison, and also as a teller at the former Smith Trust & Savings Bank in Morrison. For almost 20 years she was the smiling face at Morrison True Value Hardware. Mary was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. For many years she babysat for several families in the area. When her children were young, Mary was involved with 4-H. She had a green-thumb and enjoyed gardening; was musical, and played the violin; was creative and enjoyed ceramics and crocheting. She also loved bird watching, and she enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears with her husband, Marv.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin; daughters, Chris Tichler of Morrison and Rene Tichler of Colona, IL; son, Brian (Landi) Tichler of Morrison; three grandchildren, Tyler, Jenna, and Marissa Tichler; sisters, Sara Jordan of Tomball, TX, and Donna (Robert) Wade of Morrison; many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Paula Karstedt and Carol Becker.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, preceded by a Visitation that will start at 9:30 a.m. Ken Renkes will officiate the service.
Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
A memorial has been established to the United Leukodystrophy Foundation (ADLD research) and Resthave Care & Rehabilitation.
