Marvin J. Heun, 94, of Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison.
Marvin, “Marv,” was born September 24, 1928, in Garden Plain, IL, to Dewey and Stella (Tenboer) Heun. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. On February 11, 1949, he married Dolores M. Buikema in Fulton. She died on March 31, 2015. Marv engaged in farming along with his wife in the rural Fulton area since 1949. He was named Whiteside County Soil and Water Conservation District’s Conservation Farmer of the Year in 1975. Marv was a member of Newton Zion Reformed Church in Erie, IL, and had served as an Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. He was a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau and was on the Board of Directors for the Albany Indian Mounds Historic Site.
Survivors include his daughter, Trudy (Tim) Eckert of Fulton; three grandchildren, Lynsey Wittenberg, Laura (Dustin) Weller, and Megan (Richard) Connell; four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Riley Wittenberg, Anna Weller, and Tyler Freese; brothers-in-law, Tom Bailey, of Bettendorf, IA, and Darrell (Lynn) Buikema of Menomonee Falls, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores; sister, Dorothy Bailey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilbert (Millie) Heun and Alvin (Phyllis) Heun.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Newton Zion Reformed Church in Erie, IL, officiated by Rev. Shannon Parrish.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.
