Marvin H. Dykema, 96, of Resthave Home in Morrison, IL, died Saturday February 1, 2014, at Resthave.
Marvin was born May 20, 1917, in Morrison, to John and Anna (Shipma) Dykema. He was educated in the Green Valley School in rural Morrison. He married Alice M. Norman on October 26, 1939, in Clinton, IA. She died October 18, 1981. He later married Anna Murphy on November 10, 1983. She died July 13, 2011. Marvin was engaged in farming and trucking. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison since 1943. He enjoyed spending time with family, helping on the family farm, and visiting with friends. Marvin had a wonderful sense of humor and a ready smile for all.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Bealer and Merrial Allison, both of Morrison; one son, Brent (Charm) Dykema of Morrison; two step-children, Carol Parker of Sand Diego, CA, and Donna VanZuiden of Portland, OR; six grandchildren, Elizabeth (Brent) Vollmer, Todd Allison, Michelle (Kevin) Taylor, Scott (Ona) Allison, Darren Dykema and Kristy (fiancé Franz Jacobs) Dykema; nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first and second wives; one sister, Effie Kuehl; one brother, Jacob Dykema; two sons-in-law, Ralph Allison, Jr. and Dean Bealer.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 6, 2014, at the Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL
OFFICIATING: Mr. Ken Renkes, Director of Congregational Care at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL
VISITATION: 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service, Thursday, February 6, 2014, at the Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL
