Marvin E. Zaagman, 94, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the nursing home.
Marvin was born September 23, 1921, in Fenton, IL, to John and Grace (Schaver) Zaagman. He was educated at the Green School of Lyndon, IL. On October 5, 1943, he married Nellie Port in Lyndon. Marvin was first employed as a hired man for Ren Port, Carl Hammer, and various other farmers in the Lyndon area. He then farmed in the Lyndon area. He was a member of Morrison Christian Reformed Church, where he served as an elder, deacon, and chairman of the Building Committee. He was also a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and golfing. Marvin was a sports fan and enjoyed following his great-grandchildren and the church youth in their sporting activities. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a Chicago Bulls fan.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie; one daughter, Linda (Ronald) Wilkens of Morrison; two grandchildren, Lori Hutchison and Jeffrey (Chris) Wilkens; seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Ian, Katie, Sarah Hutchison, Corbin, Drew, and Lexi Wilkens; three step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great grandchild; a brother, Harold (Betty) Zaagman of Morrison; a sister-in-law, Janet Port of Lyndon, IL.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Lester Zaagman.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2016, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

VISITATION: 9:30 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2016, until the time of the service, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
