Marvin E. Decker, 99, of Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Friday, October 23, 2020, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.
Marvin was born August 25, 1921, in Fulton, to Joseph and Mary (Borgman) Decker. He was educated in the Fulton grade schools and attended Fulton High School. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII, with the Blue Devils 88th Infantry Division, in Italy. On December 21, 1946, he married Betty R. Speakman in Clinton, IA. She died May 29, 2008. Marvin was a Carman with the Chicago and North Western Railroad for 38 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the former Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton. He was a member of Fulton American Legion Post #402 and also a member of the Carman’s Union. Marvin enjoyed gardening and was an avid Cubs Fan.
Survivors include granddaughter, Heather M. Decker of Chicago, IL; grandson, Jason M. (Rachel) Decker of Morrison; five great-grandchildren, Demi Decker, Elivia, Riley, Lexie, and Mia Decker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; son, Chris E. Decker; sister, Lois Decker.
There will be a private funeral Service at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Ken Renkes officiating.
There will be no Visitation.
Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.
A memorial has been established by the family.
