MARION L. DEETS, 96, of Resthave Home, Morrison, IL, died Monday, November 14, 2016, at Resthave.
Marion was born January 5, 1920, in Morrison, to Earl M. and Luella M. (Humphrey) McDearmon. She was educated in the Bend School of rural Whiteside County and was a graduate of Sterling High School in Sterling, IL. She married Chester A. Deets on January 21, 1939, in Emerson, IL. He died December 1, 1997. Marion engaged in farming with her late husband in the Malvern area, until moving to Morrison in 1965. She was then employed by General Electric Co. in Morrison, retiring in 1982 after 18 years. She was a former member of Evangelical United Brethren Church in Malvern, IL, and a current member of the Morrison United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the Good Morning Circle. She was also a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include one daughter, Beth (Bob) Manchester of Cedar Rapids, IA; two sons, Larry (Reta) Deets of Prophetstown, IL, and Arlyn (Kris) Deets of Morrison; ten grandchildren, Laura (Tim) Lindsay, Robin (Dan) Drury, Linda (Greg) Floming, Rhonda (Chad) DeWitte, Michelle Manchester, Scott (Sherry) Manchester, Lisa (Thad) Nellis, Nicole (Scott) Day, Zachary (Katie) Deets, Jace (Andrea) Deets; 23 twenty-three great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Daehler of Freeport, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Olivia Bowman; two brothers, Warren and Lawrence McDearmon.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2016, at Morrison United Methodist Church in Morrison, IL
OFFICIATING: Rev. Ryan Sutton, Pastor of the Morrison United Methodist Church
VISITATION: 9:30 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2016, until the time of the service, at Morrison United Methodist Church in Morrison, IL
The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
