marion sterenbergMarion J. Sterenberg, 72, of Fulton, IL, died Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Windsor Manor Assisted Living in Morrison, IL.

Marion was born November 29, 1945, in Clinton, IA, to John B. and Gertrude (Smith) Sterenberg.  He was educated in the Garden Plain Grade School and was a 1963 graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton.  Marion married Sharon F. Tichler on April 5, 1968, in Morrison.  She died October 19, 1994.  Marion farmed in the rural Garden Plain area, raising cattle, and was well known for his Charolais . He also drove truck for various trucking companies in the area.  Marion was a member of Second Reformed Church, where he served as a Deacon and Treasurer of Sunday School, and was a former youth group Coordinator.  He was also a member of Whiteside County Cattlemen’s Association and the Farm Bureau . He enjoyed bowling, visiting with friends and family, and taking his antique tractors to shows.  Marion was also an avid toy tractor and truck collector.

Survivors include two daughters, Barb (Toby) King of Morrison and Amy (Chris) Bateman of Rogers, AR; two sons, David (Melissa) Sterenberg of Morrison and Jonathan (Samantha) Sterenberg of Fulton; seven grandchildren, McKenna and Erika King, Kennedy and Kollin Bateman, Meghan, Madeline, and Dawson Sterenberg; a sister, Carolene Sterenberg of Fulton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; one grandson, Jacob James Sterenberg; twin sisters and one brother, Harold Sterenberg, in infancy.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING:  Ken Renkes

VISITATION:  4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT:  Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL
