Marilyn Vos, 93, of Morrison, IL, died Thursday June 8, 2023, at Pleasant View Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Morrison.
Marilyn was born March 8, 1930, in Chicago, IL, to Karl and Alice (Wilkens) Bush. She was educated in the Prairie Center Grade School in rural Whiteside County and was a 1948 graduate of Morrison High School. Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, Henry “Hank” Vos, on September 9, 1949, in Morrison. They enjoyed family vacations, golfing, and socializing with their close friends. He died August 31, 1995. She was employed as a legal secretary at Bull, Ludens, Potter, and Coplan Law Offices for many years. Marilyn was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, where she taught Sunday School classes, participated in the women’s group, helped serve many funeral luncheons, and was a member of Philathea. She accompanied many vocalists and high school band members, on the piano, at State contests. Marilyn’s greatest joys later in life were attending church and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Terri (Roger) Merema of Fulton, IL; son, Tom (Jennifer) Vos of Oregon, WI; two grandchildren, Charlotte (Soren Johnson) Giuffre and Danny Vos; three great-grandchildren, Elin, Abram, and Henrik Johnson; brother, Dale (Cathy) Bush of Huntington Beach, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank; sister, Joyce Luther; brothers, Phillip and Jerry Bush.
Her Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Rev. J. T. Bean, Pastor of Ebenezer Reformed Church, officiating.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 13, starting at 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
A memorial has been established.
