Marian E. Bramm–Spangler, 94, of Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Resthave.
Marian was born April 2, 1920, in Garrison, IA, to John and Elfrieda (Zimmer) Gross. She was educated in the Garrison Grade School and was a 1937 graduate of Garrison High School. She married Myril E. Bramm on November 11, 1939, in Morrison. He died November 6, 1978. She later married Howard R. Spangler on August 30, 1987, in Morrison. He died December 8, 1993. Marian was employed at Climco in Morrison for five years, and also worked as a driver for R. C. Smith Transportation. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Morrison, and was a member of the St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society. Marian was active in the Morrison Golden Meals program, the Morrison PTA, and Morrison Home Extension. She was also very active with the Girl Scouts. Marian loved butterflies and pansies.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet (Vernon) Medendorp of Garden Plain, IL, and Christine (Larry) DeWitte of Morrison; four sons, Roger (June) Bramm of Anaheim, CA, Philip (Irene) Bramm, George Bramm, and Joe (Donna) Bramm all of Morrison; one stepson, Lanny (Linda) Spangler of Morrison; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; two great -great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; ten stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Myril; second husband, Howard; one son, David M. Bramm; one sister, Evelyn Pennell; one brother, Merlin Gross.
FUNERAL MASS: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Morrison, IL
OFFICIATING: Rev. Father William Antillon, Pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Morrison, IL
VISITATION: 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2015, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with a Rosary Service at 8:00 p.m.
INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
