Margaret Pessman, 80, of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling, IL.
Margaret was born November 4, 1940, in Clinton, IA, to Peter C. and Esther M. (Geerts) Smith. She was educated in the Garden Plain Grade School and was a 1958 graduate of Fulton High School. Margaret married Gene A. Pessman on November 28, 1958, in Fulton. She was first employed as a Bank Teller at Fulton State Bank. She later was employed as the Church Secretary at Second Reformed Church in Fulton for 25 years. Margaret was a former member of Second Reformed Church where she volunteered in Willing Workers. She was currently attending Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison, IL. She was a member and Past President of the Mercy Auxiliary in Clinton, for at least 25 years, and also volunteered at the hospital gift shop. Margaret was a 4-H leader for the Garden Plain Ripsnorters while her children were members. Margaret enjoyed being out-of-doors, especially during her life on the farm. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Margaret also enjoyed spending time with her husband of 62 years, especially going out for dinner and ice cream.
Survivors include her husband, Gene; daughter, Joy (Don) Tegeler of Morrison, IL; son, Craig Pessman of Champaign, IL; four grandchildren, Jacob Tegeler, Ben Tegeler, Kyle (Payton Roling) McLuckie, and Nathan McLuckie; sister, Mrs. Phyllis Heun of Fulton; brother, Vernon (Linda) Smith of Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Becky McLuckie; brother, Robert Smith.
Her Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison, IL, with Rev. Luke Schouten, Pastor of Emmanuel Reformed Church, officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Emmanuel Reformed Church.
Following COVID 19 regulations, social distancing and face masks will be required.
Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.
Memorials have been established to Rock River Hospice & Home and MercyOne Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
