Marcia Lou (George) Rodekamp (1961 – 2021)

marcia rodekampMarcia Lou (George) Rodekamp, 59 of Sterling, IL, went to be with her Lord, on Friday, January 1, 2021.

Marcia was born September 21, 1961, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, to Paul and Ruth (Heilener) George.  She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran in Sterling, on November 12, 1961, where she was a faithful member all her life.  She married Carl Rodekamp on July 25, 1987, in Richmond, KY.  Marcia grew up and lived in Emerson, going to Emerson and Galt schools and graduating from Sterling High School in 1979 and from Sauk Valley Community College with her Associates degree in 1983.  She worked at the old YMCA with their childcare program and then for nearly 20 years at the Sterling McDonald’s, until ill health forced her to retire.

Survivors include her husband, Carl; mother, Ruth Heilener George; daughter, Kelsey (Tanner) Lightner of Morrison, IL; her beloved grandsons, Jareth and Anaken; step-son Clayton Rodekamp of Romeoville, IL; step-grandsons, Wyatt and Elijah Rodekamp; siblings, Alan (Jeanette) George of Prophetstown, IL, Susan Kuehl of Morrison, Carolyn Reppe of Winfield, IL, David (Jill) George of Port Byron, IL, and Mark George of Milledgeville, IL; father-in-law, Carl Rodekamp of Clinton, IA; brother-in-law, Rob (Michelle) Rodekamp of Clinton, IA; aunts, Lorraine (Bob) Knicl of Dixon, IL, and Barbara Millerschoen of Sterling; uncles, Reverend Raymond Heilener of Memphis, TN, and Myron Yoeckel of Moline, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul George; mother-in-law, Barbara Rodekamp, grandparents; several aunts and uncles.

Marcia was a friend to everyone she met and loved to visit both in person and on the phone.  She was an animal lover and always had a dog and numerous cats.  She loved her crafts, making jewelry, and wreaths.  She also enjoyed camping, gardening, and cooking.  She was always busy making things for her church and those she loved.  Marcia will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 9, 2020, at Firehouse of God Ministries, with Brian Tribley officiating and Makayla Dahleen, of St. Paul Lutheran Church, co-officiating.

A memorial has been established.  Memorial may be sent to Schilling Funeral Home, P. O. Box, 592, Sterling, IL 61081 and will be forwarded to the family.
