March 31 Kiwanis Egg Hunt

Posted by

The Kiwanis Club and Morrison High School Key Club have been hampered by snow (on egg-packing day) and rain (the morning of Saturday, March 31, 2018.)   Regardless, the annual Egg Hunt took place at Kiwanis Park, in the 700 block of N. Genesee Street, Morrison, IL. There were four age groups:  two and under; three and four; five and six; seven-to-nine.

  • Kiwanis members had packed 1500 plastic eggs without the usual help of Key Clubbers and scheduled residents of Resthave Home.
  • Kathy Frederick and daughter Emily continued their “28 or 29 year” tradition of bringing alternate–non-candy–gifts for children.
  • The park grounds were prepared by volunteers from Crossroads Community Church.
  • Crossroads Community Church brought goodie bags:  Kim Whitlow and her children Sam and Dillon Siegmeier.
  • Morrison Fire Department delivered the Easter Bunny to and from the park.

Key Club Bunny security was provided by man-and women-in-black, left-to-right, Bailey Smith, Jacob Brown, Samantha Fletcher, and (not shown) Michelle Edwards.

The first group, 13 children ages up-to-two years old, toddled or were carried across the grass.  After several minutes, the wee ones came away with burgeoning baskets of eggs.  Three prize winners each chose a pretty, paper bag containing a treat coupon, egg, and fluffy rabbit.

Left-to-right are tots Felix Jones (2), Camille Medinger (2), and Ivan Simpson (1.5.)  Key Club Bunny “Frodnetsew Ila” was assisted by Fletcher.  Even with big, bright eyes, vision is limited in the furry suit.  “Frodnetsew” works at Resthave Home and appeared as the Easter Bunny to the residents’ delight.
