The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department is conducting an ongoing investigation in the rural Lyndon, IL, area.  At approximately 3:53 p.m., on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, Deputies were called to 18151 Moline Road (River’s Edge Resort) on a report of a fully-engulfed trailer fire.  Arriving on scene, it was determined in addition to the trailer fire, many of the other campers and trailers in the campground were burglarized and vandalized.  Also discovered were numerous sheds that were also vandalized, as well as having personal property removed.  Because the campground is not open for the season, many members are still arriving to find damage.  At this point of the investigation, it has been determined in excess of 19 campers sustained heavy damage.

During the course of the investigation, information was obtained that led to the arrest of two local juveniles.  They have been charges with Arson, Burglary, and Criminal Damage to Property.

The juveniles were transported to the Mary Davis juvenile facility to await their first hearing in Whiteside County Court.  The male juveniles are 14 and 15 years old.

Assisting at the scene were the Prophetstown/Lyndon Fire-EMS Department, the Illinois State Fire Marshall, the Illinois State Police Crime Scene, and the Prophetstown and Lyndon Police Departments.
