March 22 Windmill Cultural Center: Easter Traditions

KathylynHofmannThe Volunteer Educators at the Windmill Cultural Center in Fulton, IL, invite the public to attend the next program of the season. The March 22, 2017, Wild Winter Wednesdays at the Windmill Cultural Center will teach guests about German Easter traditions. The public is invited to gather at 9:00 a.m. for coffee, tea, and refreshments. The program begins at 9:15.

The building, 111 10th Avenue, Fulton, is accessible to people with disabilities. The program is funded through a grant from the Fulton Association for Community Enrichment (FACE).

Kathlyn Hofmann will present “German Easter Traditions.” Hofmann grew up on a farm near Calamus, IA. She has a BA in German and Spanish from Wartburg College and a MA in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Hawaii. In 1981, she moved to Germany as a teacher for the Department of Defense School System, where she taught German to American high school students in Kaiserslautern (one year) and Ramstein (12 years.)

In 1993, she moved to Schweinfurt, Germany, where she taught English as a Second Language at Schweinfurt American Elementary School for 14 years. She retired from teaching in 2008 and now lives in DeWitt, IA, with her husband, Wilhelm.

A new feature each week will be the addition of bread for sale by Krumpets Bakery. Guests will be able to purchase bread made with de Immigrant flour at the Windmill Cultural Center.

WWW@WCC programs are held on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 a.m. from December to the end of March. Programs are free and open to the public.
