DickSaylesThe Volunteer Educators at the Windmill Cultural Center in Fulton, IL, invite the public to attend the next program of the season. The March 1, 2017, Wild Winter Wednesdays at the Windmill Cultural Center will teach guests about birding. The public is invited to gather at 9:00 a.m. for coffee, tea, and refreshments. Dick Sayles will present “Quad Cities Audubon Society.” Many species of birds, insects, and other wildlife visit and make their home in the diverse plantings, which have been integrated vertically and horizontally. Dick and his wife Kit own approximately five acres near Buffalo, IA. They have turned the land into a haven for the wild. Utilizing ideas that Dick has gained in travel, he has been influenced heavily by the need for diversity.

Sayles has been a member of the National Audubon Society since 1977 and has served as a Board member of the Quad City Audubon since 2006. Graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology, he is passionate about gardening with nature.  He is a member of SHARE (Simply Have Areas Reserved for the Environment). Dick is also a Scott County Master Gardener. He has traveled extensively in the United States and visited Canada, Cuba, Ecuador, France, Mexico, Panama, and Peru in pursuit of birds and gardens. He is also an avid reader and photographer.

A new feature each week will be the addition of bread for sale by Krumpets Bakery. Guests will be able to purchase bread made with de Immigrant flour at the Windmill Cultural Center.
