Main Street Patching Prior to Painting the Town

City Department of Public Works crew members transferred a dump truck load of “cold patch” surfacing material to the downtown area, on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. The location of these patches is 230 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL.  City Administrator Barry Dykhuizen commented, “Each year as summer winds down, we look at making street services before cold weather arrives.  One example is the striping that was done before school opened.”

“Because of Paint the Town [Saturday, September 19,] we put a specific focus on Main Street, to prepare for that.  We wanted to be sure to give it extra attention.”

The Editor questioned whether these slightly domed patches would flatten on their own or require further rolling.

“They do tend to settle in time with more traffic,” he answered.  “I’ll forward [the photo] to our Public Works Director [Gary Tresenriter] to take a look.”

For incoming, creative street square painters, this northwest corner of E. Main and N. Madison Streets might make your artwork appear three-dimensional. It could showcase volcanic islands surrounded by blue paint, or whatever you can imagine!
