City Administrator Barry Dykhuizen submitted this Main Street Redevelopment Project update on Friday, June 4, 2021.
He summarized work completed from Monday, May 31, through Friday, June 4.
Dykhuizen also listed a work schedule for next week and upcoming street closures.
Construction Activity, May 31-June 4
- Completed curb and gutter and sidewalk on the west side of Orange Street, from railroad tracks to Main Street. The sidewalk north of Main Street along the west side of Orange Street has been formed and is ready to pour.
- Completed sidewalk on the east side of Orange Street, from the railroad tracks to the parking lot driveway.
- Finished storm sewer and cored out roadway on Main Street, from Orange Street to Base Street.
- Installed base coarse aggregate on Orange Street and 1/3 of Main Street, between Orange Street and Base Street.
- Installed 42″ storm sewer on Main Street, from Base Street to Genesee Street.
- Connected new 8″ watermain to the existing 4″ watermain at Main Street and Orange Street.
- Completed all the new water service connections on Main Street, from Orange Street to Base Street.
- Blocked up window well at the building at the southeast corner of Main Street and Orange Street (Yarbrough Appiance.)
Construction Activity, June 7-June 11
- Lower existing watermains in conflict with new storm sewer, at the intersection of Main Street and Base Street.
- Construct storm sewer and inlets on Main Street, from Base Street to Genesee Street.
- Finish installing base coarse aggregate on Main Street, between Orange Street and Base Street.
- Construct sidewalk, ADA ramps, driveways, and curb and gutter along the remainder for Orange Street and start work on Main Street,from Orange Street to Base Street.
Street Closures
- Orange Street, from Market Street to U. S. Route 30, and Main Street, from Orange Street to Base Street, will be closed.
- Main Street from Base Street to Genesee Street maybe closed from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., when the contractor is working on the storm sewer.
- Base Street, from U. S. Route 30 to Market Street, will be closed when the contractor is lowering the existing watermains at Main Street and Base Street.
